Question 560

My question is what happens to the soul of an unborn baby lost through miscarriage?

Answer to Question 560

We believe that the moment a baby is conceived that both the body and soul come into existence. If the soul is immortal then the soul does not die but lives for all eternity even though the body died. Now whether the baby was carried to full term and died after birth or was miscarried during the pregnancy the state in which the soul lives must be the same. The soul is innocent and pure and has not had a chance to do anything good or bad and therefore cannot be judged. It is therefore safe to say that such pure souls can only be with God.
