Question 480

Hello Fr. How is it 3 days between crucifixion and resurrection......and is this why Sunday became the Lords day and no need to follow Sabbath??

Answer to Question 480

The 3 days did not mean 3x24 hours, but that the resurrection would happen on the third day. The crucifixion took place on Friday morning, Saturday is the second day and Christ was resurrected on the early hours of Sunday the third day. Saturday is still the Sabbath and we have not done away with it, but we celebrate on the Sunday because the Resurrection took place on that day and as you say, we dedicated it to the Lord. In English this is not obvious but in Greek Sunday is Kyriaki meaning the day of the Lord.
