Question 424

If somebody leaves the Orthodox faith for a non-Christian religion, such as Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism etc, and then wants to return to the Orthodox faith, do they have to be baptised again, or what is the procedure for them returning to the faith?

Answer to Question 424

There is only one baptism so the person cannot be baptized again. The usual procedure is that the person will have a few catechism lessons so that he understands the differences we have between these other religions and then will be received back into the church through the sacrament of Chrismation (Myroma).
