Question 325

Good afternoon pater...my question is why is it people don't bury loved ones (Greece) and they put them in tombs little houses...isn't in our region supposed to be in earth?

Answer to Question 325

Both customs were common to the early church. In the time of Christ people had caves hewn out for their burial, but if you couldn't afford a cave then you were buried in the ground. The early Christians also were buried in the catacombs or mausoleums. In our times it is common for most people to be buried in the ground because space and money do not allow for everyone to build a mausoleum, but for those that can then this is quite acceptable.
