This week a young boy passed after a long battle with cancer. Are children at peace when they pass? Thank you
Answer to Question 100
Our hope is that all people find peace. We pray "O Lord, give rest to the soul of Thy departed servant [name] in a place of light, in a place of green pasture, in a place of refreshment, from whence pain, sorrow and mourning have fled away." We do not know much about the afterlife but we believe that if we place our hopes in Christ in this life we will be with him in peace in the other life. It is sad when people die at a young age, but this is human sentiments, because we invest too much in this life which is temporal and don't invest in the afterlife which is eternal. If then the other life is eternal then it doesn't really matter when we leave this life as long as we are with Christ, we are born to die, whether as a baby, a child, a teenager, middle aged or as a very old person. I would think that a person who dies at a young age is in better standing before the throne of God because he has no sins to answer to so has nothing to be punished for.
